In the fifth installment of Gustafer Yellowgold’s journey, the yellow cartoonish character is celebrating a year’s worth of Earth holidays. Year in the Day has the former sun resident who lives in the Minnesota woodland celebrating a year’s worth of Earth holidays by creating his own traditions.

Morgan Taylor created Gustafer Yellowgold in 2005 and continues the poppy, mellow style with Year in the Day. The sing-song tunes are illustrated in “moving storybook” on the DVD which features a focused theme throughout. The hand-drawn music videos accompany the songs for holidays including Easter (“Eggs”), July 4 (“Fireworks”) and Thanksgiving (“Pumpkin Pied”).

Bonus features on the DVD include an episode of “My Yellowgold Life,” the making of Year in the Day; and “Gustafer Guitar Lessons,” where Taylor demonstrates his technique.

The CD has notes of old school rock, pop and Tin Pan Alley. The kindiepop songs are perfect for the morning ride to school or a lazy weekend morning at home.
