Upon arriving at Chow Baby, whether at the Howell Mill Road or the Ponce de Leon Avenue location, with its hip urban vibe and décor, the mind might not immediately jump to “family restaurant.” But after one visit, you’ll be sure it is.

This Asian-fusion “create-your-own-meal” restaurant promises the freshest produce possible and uses local farms when available. With countless raw, fresh vegetables and proteins (including tofu, black beans and eggs) to choose from, it’s a fun and delicious way for your kids to create their own dinners and for parents to let them have at it with peace of mind. Whether your family is full of omnivores, vegetarians, gluten-free dieters or a combination of the above, there are plenty of options for every kind of eater.

Make sure your family members bring their appetites — those tiny black bowls filled with your own concoction of stir-fry goodness are deceiving with how much food ends up on your plate after the chefs whip it up on the grill. Be sure to save room for a healthy pour of one (or a combination of) Chow Baby’s 18 sauces – all made in house.

Hours: Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. (lunch until 2:30 p.m.); Friday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m. (lunch until 2:30 p.m.); Saturday: noon-11 p.m. (dinner only); Sunday: noon-10 p.m. (dinner only)

Vegetarian/allergy friendly: Tofu, black beans, eggs, gluten-free pasta, plenty of veggies and a white stick to indicate if you need your food cooked away from the peanuts and/or meat products

Your kids will love: Creating their own meals, watching the chef cook

You will love: Great adult beverage selection, including everything from sake to margaritas; worry-free dining for parents with kids who have allergies; fresh produce and meats

Prices: $6.99 for children; $12.99 for unlimited trips through the line, $5.00 extra to make a doggie-bag to take home with you for when you get the munchies again two hours after eating “Chinese food”

Word to the wise: Both locations offer complimentary valet parking with an option to tip on your dinner bill if you forget cash.

The Real Chow Baby, 782 Ponce de Leon Ave., Atlanta, 404-671-4202; and 1016 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, 404-815-4900.

Is the $13.99 price for kids, too? I love RCB but I’ve never taken mine. Mine wouldn’t eat $13.99 of food, even yummy Chow Baby food!

Thank you for this question! We mistakenly said the price for everyone is $13.99. The price for kids is $6.99 and adults is $12.99. We’ve corrected the story to reflect the prices.
    Thanks,
