Corner Tavern makes fancy restaurants seem unnecessary

Most places with “tavern” in the name aren’t first-stops for those with kids in tow. But if you’ve ever tried to get a good burger in Little 5 Points with your kids, you know that the Corner Tavern is one of the only spots in the ’hood that will allow the little ones. They have kids’ menus at every location except East Point, and although Midtown is the only location that is non-smoking throughout (the L5P dining room is non-smoking at all times, Edgewood is non-smoking until 5 p.m. and East Point is non-smoking until 3 p.m.), Corner Tavern has more to offer than a full bar, pool tables, and big-screen TVs (like you need anything else). Innovative sides and sandwiches are reasonably priced and the “large plates” (hello, ahi tuna in a tomato-ginger broth!) make fancy restaurants seem unnecessary.

Any of the locations at this locally-owned (by a good dad, no less!) chain are a win.

Hours: non-smoking hours vary by location; Midtown location is non-smoking at all times
Vegetarian-friendly: more than just black bean burgers and appetizers! Veggies sandwiches, wraps — decent selection that offers innovation, rather than just meat substitutes
Your kids will love: big-screen TVs, awesome view of trucks and interesting people (L5P)
You will love: awesome sides like almond green beans and spinach with feta, pool tables, full bar
Prices: Sandwich and side for less than $10; “large plates” for around $15
